Peter studied conducting with Dr. Norman Del Mar and Christopher Adey in London at the Royal College of Music and made his conducting début at St. John's Smith Square in London with the New London Chamber Orchestra, of which he was principal conductor from 1983-1985.
Greatly appreciated as an all round musician, he has conducted orchestras in England, France and Germany, and with a very close relationship with the Orchestre de Cannes in the South of France for many years.
Much of his work has been involved with directing chamber orchestras, but Peter is also greatly appreciated for his large-scale symphonic works, which have included the Brahms' Symphonies, Tschaikovsky - Romeo and Juliet Overture, Bartok - Miraculous Mandarin, Debussy - Images, Ravel - La Valse, Beethoven, Mozart, Bernstein, to name a few, ..............and the list goes on !
With a vast experience in orchestral music, Peter is as much at home with the symphonic repertoire as he is with opera, and has performed on the international stage with some of the worlds’ finest singers and instrumentalists, including Placido Domingo, Felicity Lott, Katia Ricciarelli, Roberto Alagna, Rolando Villazon, Patricia Ciofi, Robert Tear, Isaac Stern, Evgeny Kissin, Yefim Bronfman, Maxim Vengerov, Vadim Repin, Paul Tortelier, Mtislav Rostropovich, Victoria Mullova, Natalia Gutman.........................etc
An accomplished pianist, Peter has given recitals with the late Christopher Bunting in Oxford, and accompanied the cellist David Cohen in concert for the Philharmonia Orchestra.
